Michael Deeks and Lorna McBride are saddened to share that their father Alan passed away peacefully at his home in Almonte, Ontario. Born in Maitland, Ontario and grew up in Morrisburg, Ontario on the Deeks beef and dairy farm. Predeceased by his wife Shirley in 1985. Amazing father of Mike and Lorna (Lincoln McBride), loving and proud grandfather of John Deeks (Jessica), great grand daughter to Lilith, Will Deeks (Brianna), great grandfather of Declan, and youngest grandson Jack McBride (Marissa).  

Dad worked for Ontario Hydro then became a math teacher starting at Fisher High School, then soon became a high school vice principal in the Ottawa Board of Education for 35yrs. Graduated from U of Ottawa, Carleton U, U of Toronto and Queens University with a Masters in Education, attended Teachers college, Bachelor of Science and Mathematics. Dad was inducted into the into the 80 + age hockey hall of fame – he played hockey for more that 45 yrs every Thursday night.  He will be missed by his buddies at Almonte's Tim Hortons aka “Town Council” of many years. His love of all things in farming, hunting, fishing and tractors has been passed to his grandson so that legacy will carry on.

Dad’s wish was to pass at home and with the support of family, that wish was granted.  As per dads wishes, there will be no visitation.  A  private graveside service with immediate family will take place at a later date.

Donations to the Canadian Dachshund Rescue of Ontario (charity registration number BN825522030RR0001 with tax receipts issued for $20 and over) will be make Dad giggle as his love for all the “killer wiener dog ankle biters” who he assisted to transport , help to get to a new life and assist going into rescue would be his wish.
