Alan Pretty Obituary

Alan Robert Pretty

It is with profound sadness that the family of Alan Robert Pretty announces his passing at the Ottawa Civic Hospital on July 13, 2025, in his 89th year, peacefully with his family by his side.

Loving husband and soul mate of Marlene just 10 days shy of their 65th wedding anniversary. Proud and devoted father to Kimberley (Ken) and Robert (Catherine). Respected and beloved grandfather to Brad (Leighanne), Cory (Amber), Kelsey (Kelly), Sarah (Mack), and Daniel. Proud great grandfather to Ava, Isabelle, Kate, Charlotte, William, and Sterling. Survived by siblings Raymond (Alice), Donovan (Joan), William (Erma), Helen (Sandy), and Laurie (Connie), as well as sister in-laws Shirley (late Mel Fee), and Beverley Jackson, and brother-in-law Donald Robertson. Predeceased by his parents Earl and Irene Pretty and his in-laws Earl and Irene Robertson

Over the years, Al had many jobs, but his true calling and passion was sign painting. He was a true master of his craft and well respected in the field. He started his own business, Al's Signs in 1977. Almonte Fire Trucks was one of Al's main customers and one of his favourites with all the precision and fine detailing they required. You can still see some of his work today.
