Anna Beryl Hobbs Obituary

Hobbs, ANNA BERYL (Massey)

Anna Beryl Hobbs passed away the evening of Saturday, January 28, 2023, in her 90th year of life, at Granite Ridge, Stittsville, Ontario. Beloved wife of Kenneth Lloyd Hobbs for 61 years until Lloyd’s passing on April 14, 2013. Loving and proud MOTHER of Marilyn Hobbs Smith (Doug) of Texas, Beverly (Hobbs) Dunbar (Rob) of Ashton and Robert (Bobby) Harris Lloyd Hobbs of Ashton. Dear and loved grandmother and nanny to Eryn Caruso (Bruno) of Ottawa, Ryan Carisse of Ashton, Kaitlan Dunbar of Ashton and Jake Dunbar of Ashton. Great-grandmother and nanny to Maurino Mannix Joseph Caruso of Ottawa. Beryl was an only child and predeceased by her parents Harris Massey and Inez (Perrault) Massey, her only son and youngest child Robert (Bobby) Harris Lloyd Hobbs in 1978 at a young age, her beloved husband Lloyd, her brother-in-law Keith Hobbs and sister-in-law Margaret Hobbs, both close and devoted confidantes and friends throughout her life.  Beryl’s life with her life long partner and husband as one would expect weathered a number of successes and hurdles over their 61 years of marriage. Beryl attended business college that lead her to a civilian position with the British Airforce. Beryl became a “farmer’s wife” when she chose to marry Lloyd Hobbs -Farmer (which led to a life long adventure) and interestingly enough the end of her career working in the City of Ottawa. Beryl became this Farmer’s wife and choose to devote herself and her life to her husband, their farm and their children (Marilyn-Beverly-Bobby) including all the other adventures life brought them. Beryl and Lloyd purchased the General Store in Munster in the late 60’s becoming store owners/keepers and an integral part of the community until the store was destroyed by fire in 1987,  they still remained part of the community. Beryl and Lloyd together took on the adventure of showing draft horses, they enjoyed supporting local agricultural and community events.

A funeral service to celebrate Beryl’s life will take place at the Alan R. Barker Funeral Home, 19 McArthur Avenue, Carleton Place, on Saturday June 3, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Christ Church Anglican Cemetery, Ashton.

For those desiring, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
