Anne Emma (Burton) Linttell
Almonte, Ontario
1928 ~ 2026
It is with deep sadness and much love that we announce the passing of our dear Mom at the age of 97. Such a wonderful life. Fully mobile, active and enjoying all the people and activities at Orchardview by the Mississippi until her passing. Known as Annie Bananie to the staff and the best bum swatter ever! We should all be so lucky to have the energy and desire to participate so wholeheartedly at this stage of life.
Born in Renfrew, Ontario to Leonard & Jesse Burton and the last of 8 children ~ Ernie, Walter, Bill, Don, Dot, Betty, Nell and then little Annie. Also known as ‘the bug’, likely for good reason!
Mom married the best of the best of men. She and Dad (Garry Linttell, d.2002) married in Renfrew on October 20th 1950 and honeymooned at the Norfolk Air Force base in Virginia Beach, as Dad was on a quick furlough. In 1957, their first boy arrived, Derek (d.2021) then followed a beautiful girl, Laura (d.2018), then another girl, Jennifer (Jeff) of Camp Sherman Oregon and along came the baby, Mark, Camp Sherman Oregon.
One of her finest accomplishments, other than raising one heck of a husband and four pretty decent kids, happened at the age of 65, in 1993, when with Highest Honours she earned her Bachelor of Arts in English. A lover of books her entire life she went on to write her own poems, short stories and many personal stories for friends and family.
We cannot express as well as Mom how this loss will affect us. However, we have been LOVED our entire life and we cherish our memories of Mom, Dad, Laura, Derek and know one day down the road we will see them again.
With incredible gratitude and appreciation we wish to thank Mom’s surrogate daughter, Cathy Benn, for all her time, attention and love given to our Mom all these years. Also her nephew, Rick Skinner and niece, Lynn Burton Piamonte. Without a doubt, we want to give a huge THANK YOU to each and every staff member that has cared for Mom and the other residences of the 4th floor. A difficult job, absolutely, but rendered with such patience and devotion to each and everyone. You helped make these last years beyond wonderful for Mom and we are so grateful to you ALL.
In closing, a poem that Mom wrote at the age of 95 titled “Oh to be young again”
I could play in my room
And count all the stars
As they roamed around Heaven
… And I watched from afar
Though sent to bed early
They were there every night
I pretended to sleep
But I faked a Good Night!
School was a challenge
As I toted my sack
But along came a fellow
… And I never looked back
Now we are lovers
With kids of our own
And so far small issues
… But handled with tissues
