Antonio Palazzolo
August 29, 1937 – August 25, 2025
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Antonio “Tony” Palazzolo on August 25, 2025, at Fairview Manor in Almonte, at the age of 87. Antonio will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Afaf (née Sakas), with whom he shared 61 years of marriage since April 3, 1964. He was a proud and devoted father to his daughter Harriett (Axel) and son Giuseppe “Joe” (Tania). Beloved Nonno to his cherished grandchildren Quinn (Sandy), Kyle (Regan), Cameron, and Sofia. Adored great-grandfather to Ashton and Keira. He is survived by his brothers Umberto and Carmelo. Tony was predeceased by his loving parents, Giuseppe and Maria Palazzolo; his brothers Giovanni and Davide; and his sisters Giovannina and Angelica.
Tony was a loving, hard-working, kind, strong-willed and dedicated man. He was a worldly man, he began his career working on dam construction projects in Iran, Iraq, Africa, and Venezuela. After the birth of his first child, Harriett, the family settled in Torino, Italy, where he worked in auto manufacturing at Fiat. A few years later, they moved to Palazzolo sull’Oglio, Italy, where Tony and his brothers started a button manufacturing business. After selling the business, Tony and his family immigrated to Canada in 1976. He worked diligently to provide for his family and eventually worked at Bakermet Inc. Metal Recycling where he served as a skilled crane operator for 20 years until his retirement in 2000.
Tony will be remembered as a man of integrity, strength, and generosity, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him. He had a curious mind and a love for learning—especially about technology, gardening, music, and natural health remedies—which he joyfully shared with his family, leaving us with treasured memories that will never fade. These passions and the values he passed on remain treasured parts of his legacy. We take comfort in knowing that Tony’s spirit lives on in the lessons he taught, the love he gave, and the memories we will cherish forever.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Fairview Manor for their compassionate care.
