Borden Ford

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father,  Borden (Bordy) James Ford, who passed away with grace and dignity in the Smiths Falls Hospital on Sunday, December 8, 2024. Bordy was 82 years old and a cherished son of the late Borden and Rose (Weedmark) Ford. He was predeceased by his dear wife, Norma (Dorman), who passed peacefully at home, with him by her side, on December 27, 2021. Bordy was a loving father to Sherry (Andrew) Sample and Syd (Rose) Ford and proud grandfather to Jesse Sample, Alex Sample and Hannah (Alexander (Woody)) Woodhouse. He is survived by his brothers Ken, Bill and sister Barb, predeceased by brothers Norman and Keith. He will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews and their extended families.

Bordy was a sports enthusiast, referee and umpire for many local sports teams in the Carleton Place and Ottawa Valley area. He enjoyed nature and many outdoor activities,  especially farming, hunting, and animal husbandry. Bordy retired from a full career at the Rideau Regional Centre in Smiths Falls where he supported his peers as a Union Steward. He also was actively involved on local Search and Rescue teams for many years. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends. May he rest in peace.

Visitation will be held at Barker Funeral Home, 19 McArthur Avenue, Carleton Place, Ontario on Friday, December 13, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1 PM. A service will follow in the chapel at 1 PM, with interment to take place at Saint James Cemetery, followed by a reception back at the funeral home.
