Brian Moreau
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brian Moreau. Brian passed away at the Civic Hospital on the afternoon of April 1st, 2026 at the age of 68.
Predeceased by his father Maurice (Moe), his beloved wife Janice, brother-in-law David and sister-in-law Leanne. Brian leaves behind his mother Dorothy (nee Monaghan), sisters Diann (Larry) and Lynn (Rick), soul brother Donnie (Jan), sister-in-law Carey, nieces, nephews, girlfriend Joanne, family and close friends.
When we remember Brian, we recall his hard working and caring nature, his love of the lake and his dogs, and most of all, his kind and friendly spirit which drew everyone to him.
Brian worked as an auto mechanic for his whole career—always a Ford guy, he loved his Mustangs! A lifelong fixer, crafter, and builder, he and brother-from-another-mother Donnie were once tasked with crafting the high school sporting bus at their alma mater, St. Pius High School (still in use till this day…we think). His woodworking craftsmanship was always of sharp quality—many who knew him have at least one item bearing the HANDCRAFTED BY BRIAN MOREAU brand in their home!
He and his late wife Janice built two homes over the years, which housed countless cherished memories during their stays. The most recent home he and Janice built on the banks of the Mississippi Lake—a dream they had shared for so long, which they finally achieved in 2017. Brian and Janice had four dogs in their time together: Bear the mixed breed, and Jasper, Abby, and Cameron the golden retrievers.
More so than anything else, his loving, jovial spirit and sense of humour left an indelible mark on those around him. A poem written by brother- in-law Rick captures the essence of what we will miss most: the moments we shared together…
A moment is a memory we never forget. Like the moment I first saw you. And the moment we met. Moments of hope, laughter and glee, moments we argued and couldn't agree. A moment of adversity, a moment that was nice. Other moments we wouldn't want to live twice. Moments of joy, moments of grief, moments that challenged our very beliefs. A moment of regret, One of despair, never a moment we didn't care. The moments we shared and the places we've been. All the wonders we have seen. If there's a moment we may have missed. We'll never forget a moment like this.Visitation will be held on Friday, April 10th from 3 – 8 PM at Alan R. Barker Funeral Home in Carleton Place. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you please send donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in memory Brian.
