Bruce Stewart Brydges 
1947-2023

It is with shattered hearts a great man passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 8th, 2023.  Born in Almonte, Ontario arriving as the fifth child of ten.  Predeceased by his parents Orville and Gladys Brydges.   Proudest and cherished Grandpa of Conner (Aili) and Colton.  Beloved Husband of Willie for almost 56 years.  Cherished Dad of Janet (Mike O’Rourke) and Rob (Mandy).  Step-Grandfather to Cayle, Kathleen (Tom) and Jack (Aneta).  Kindest brother to the late Beverly Madden (Joe deceased), Clarence (Marion), Blair (Lynda), Harold (Lucille), Joan Scott (Kevin), Roy (Debbie), Stephen (Mary-Ann), Darrell and Heather Denvir (Basil).  He will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and deeply missed by so many friends.

His work life was spent shifting gears driving a big rig for 52 years with his proudest years spent at Esso trucking with his trucking family.  After hauling fuel, in his words he had ‘the perfect hobby’ trucking aggregate, heavy equipment and agriculture which allowed him to see the country and talk to every person he met.  His dedication did not go unnoticed whether it be to his family, his friend’s or his working life to always get the load there on time.  Known to work hard, he played just as hard spending his time during the winter months doing his favorite sport - riding his Yamaha sled!   His happiest moments will always be the times he spent with his grandsons Conner and Colton, his kids Janet and Rob and travelling the world with his wife Willie.  Always genuinely taking the time to chat with those he knew and met – with a story to tell or a question to ask.

Visitation will be held at the Alan R Barker Funeral Home and Chapel, 19 McArthur Avenue, Carleton Place with visitation Thursday, April 13th from 2 - 5 and 6 - 9.   Funeral Service will take place in the chapel Friday, April 14th at 12 noon with a reception to follow downstairs.  The service will be livestreamed, please search YouTube for "BarkerFh Bruce Brydges" starting at 11:55 a.m.
Cremation to take place after the Funeral with a private family inurnment in Munster at some point in the future.

Casual dress please.
