He is also survived by his grandchildren Erika, Nathan, Erin and Mitchell and his great granddaughter Jenella. Carl will also be missed by his sisters Freda (wife of the late Ron), Joyce (Mike), his brothers Ken (Bev) and Orville (Lynda), and his sisters in law Beula (wife of the late Ron) and Sandra (wife of the late Wilf), as well as his sister in law Brenda Ireton (Glenn). He will be fondly remembered by all of his nieces and nephews. Carl is predeceased by his wife, Shirley Cooke. Carl is also predeceased by his brothers Ron and Wilf and his sisters Jean (wife of the late Chuck) and Iva (partner of Doug).
Carl was raised in Scotch Corners, just outside of Carleton Place. It had long been his wish to move back to the area. He was moved in to Stoneridge Manor in August of 2023. A special thank you to all of the wonderful nurses and PSWs at Stoneridge. He had said that he was spoiled by them.
“Grief, I've learned, is really just love. It's all the love you want to give, but cannot. All of that unspent love gathers in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in the hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go.” -Jamie Anderson
At Carl's request a small family service will be held. Memorial donations may be made to Parkinson Canada (Parkinson's Disease).
