Carman Blair Howatt

Born January 25th 1942 in Ottawa, On
Passed away October 25th 2023 in Perth, On
Much loved husband of Betty Howatt (nee Keith). Dear father of Cheryl, Wendy (Andre Seguin) and Blair (Lucy Dasilva). Loved grandfather of Amanda, Natalie, Katie, Josh, and Andrew. Predeceased by his parents Charles D. and Aletha Howatt (nee Ladner) and his brother Douglas Howatt. Brother in law to Marion Keith (deceased) (David), Bob Keith (deceased) (Charlotte), Ron Keith (Linda), Lynda Keith (Paul) (deceased), Ken Keith (deceased) (Karen) (deceased), and Barb Keith (deceased) (John) along with many nieces and nephews.
Carman was a graduate of Kemptville Agricultural College and really enjoyed the experience and friendships that he made there. For the majority of his career he was the "kitchen guy" and known throughout the Ottawa Valley by local builders and contractors. He co-founded Ottawa Valley Kitchens in 1983 and absolutely loved working with people designing their custom kitchens. His other passion was the family farm that he and Betty restored and enjoyed for 35 years just outside of Carleton Place. He had strong ties with family in the state of Maine and looked forward to their annual trek down to the family reunion.
Our family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Perth hospital for the compassionate care given to Carman.
Friends and family may visit at the Alan R. Barker Funeral Home, 19 McArthur Avenue, Carleton Place on Monday, October 30, 2023 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. Private family interment service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Easter Seals Ontario Camps for disabled children. Carman spent time at Camp Merrywood as a child and had very fond memories of his summertime fun there with the kids. eastersealscamp.org
