Colin Johnson

Born January 13, 1940 in Manchester, England.  Died peacefully on August 16, 2023, near Carleton Place, Ontario at the age of 83.  

Dear father of Lee Johnson (Kelly), Andrea Johnson (Gary England), and step-father of Linda Lowe Bennett, Lori Lowe and Julie Lowe (Jason Gervais).  Grandfather of Aaron and Baillie (Brittany) Johnson, Andrew and William England, Bronson and Logan Bennett, and Kayla Najem (Riccardo). Great-grandfather of Cohen Johnson.

Colin immigrated to Canada in 1950 and settled with his parents Albert (1906-1976) and Jessie Johnson (1906-1954), and three older sisters, in Magog, Quebec. Colin is survived by his sisters Kay Johnson (Claude Raymond) and Joyce Johnson (Lindsay Buzzell) and was predeceased by his sister Mavis Chamberlain (Russell) in 2005.  

After growing up in Magog, Colin left home at a young age to join the military. He obtained an HBSc at the Royal Military College in Kingston in 1965, and later returned to teach science. After living in Germany for a few years with his young children and first wife, Kathleen Pennell (nee Pollard), he returned to Canada and attended the University of Western Ontario, where he obtained his MBA. Upon retiring from a distinguished career in the military, Colin worked as a civilian for the Department of National Defence in Ottawa for several years.  

In 1990, Colin married the love of his life, Diane Johnson (nee Lackey). They were fortunate to live in a waterfront home on the river in Carleton Place, Ontario, with Diane's family living nearby. They spent many years there enjoying the wildlife and spectacular views of the river. They also ventured to sunny destinations during the winter, with Mexico being a particular favourite. Colin was devastated by the loss of Diane in 2020, but continued to live peacefully by the river until his recent battle with cancer.

As Colin wished, there will be no service.
