Constance Shea
September 3, 1928 – June 16, 2025
Constance (Connie) Antonia Shea (nee Bédard), formerly of Outremont and Beloeil, QC, Carleton Place and Almonte, ON.
Daughter of the late Antonio Bédard of Montreal, QC and Germain Hétu, of Boston, MA, sister to the late Helen (Paul Carey) formerly of Needham, MA, and survived by sister Muriel of Ville St. Laurent, QC.
Connie passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, after a brief illness at the age of 96. Cherished loving wife of the late Richard Lionel Shea (2019), loving mother of Elaine (Graham Schwartz) of Almonte, ON, Richard (Rick) (Marilyn Ma) of Toronto, ON, the late James (Jim) (2004) of Toronto, ON, Dianne (Peter O’Connor) of Chateauguay, QC. Dearest Gammy to Riley and Patrick Schwartz and Aaron O’Connor. Loving aunt to many dear nieces and nephews and missed by many dear friends.
Connie lived a long and happy life of devotion to others. She had an immense love for God and church. She expressed her artistic talents through her colorful impressionistic oil and watercolor painting, her delicious cooking and through her tastefully decorated homes. She was a life-long learner, through formal education and self-discovery, who wanted to know as much as possible about life and her God.
Connie cherished her 65 years of marriage with her childhood sweetheart Dick. She was a full-time mother and was very proud of her children. She loved life completely, found joy every day and cared deeply for others. Connie loved to organize church and community events, dinner parties and bridge games. With her unwavering faith and resilience, she powered through all of life’s challenges.
The family would like to thank Dr. Lawrie Ray and all the staff at Orchard View and Bayshore for their care over the years and particularly for the compassionate end of life care they all provided.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, June 28th, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Name of Mary Church at 134 Bridge Street in Almonte, ON. The family will receive condolences at the back of the church as of 10:30 a.m. A reception will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Orchard View Gardens, at 219 Paterson Street in Almonte. Interment will take place at a later date at Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery in Montreal.
