David Alexander Bowman
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of David Alexander Bowman on April 15, 2026, at the Ottawa General Hospital. Born on July 16, 1941, in Kingston, Ontario, Dave was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who dedicated his life to his family and community.
Dave leaves behind his loving wife, Diane (nee Arkinstall), with whom he shared 47 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures, creating countless cherished memories. He was a devoted father to Craig (Jodi) and Leslie (Peter), and a proud grandfather to Nicole (Mike), Matthew (Payton), Brooke (Ben), Hailey (Roberto), CJ (Cait) and Jenna (Corbin). His legacy continues through his eight great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy. He was a cherished brother of Sandra Bowness and predeceased by his sisters Margaret Henry, Mary Gemmill, Heather Thompson and brother Ian Duncan. Dave is lovingly remembered by Murray, Vicki, Kai, and Cameron Arkinstall. He will also be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, as well as the mother of his children, Donna Scott.
Dave was a man of integrity and dedication, retiring from a rewarding career at Statistics Canada in 1999. His commitment extended beyond his professional life; in 1988, he proudly carried the Olympic torch for a leg of its journey, a true testament to his spirit.
Dave shared many wonderful experiences with special friends Garth and Ginette Hansma, whether cruising or camping, creating bonds that would last a lifetime.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. M. Gaudet and Dr. M. Maltez, whose kindness and professionalism provided comfort during Dave's illness.
In accordance with Dave's wishes, a private graveside service has been held. For those wishing to honor his memory, donations to The Ottawa Hospital Foundation - Cancer Centre or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
Though he is no longer with us, Dave's warm spirit, unwavering love, and cherished memories will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love and admiration.
