David Edwin Devlin
November 22, 1948 - February 3, 2025
With great sadness, we announce the passing of David Edwin Devlin on February 3, 2025, with his loving wife and his girls by his side.
David was the son of the late Edwin Arthur Devlin of Carleton Place, Ontario, and Lucy Emma Ford Rothwell of Kirkcaldy, Scotland.
Married to his great love Ruth Ann Wilson for 55 years, they had three loving daughters, Crystal (Scott Blackburn), Jennifer (David Payne), and Joanne (Ron Morrison).
Dave graduated from Almonte High School, where he specialized in auto mechanics. He owned the Texaco service station on the corner of Bridge St. and Lake Ave. He moved to electronics and worked as a manager at Digital and finally found his dream job as a ready-mix driver for Hoffman Concrete.
Growing up in Carleton Place, the Devlin family loved their horses. If they were not showing them, they were riding the racetrack on Thomas Street. Dave loved to fix and sell cars; he enjoyed tinkering in his garage and entertaining the lads with a few beverages.
Dave spent many years watching his girls race for the Carleton Place Canoe Club while volunteering much of his time fixing boats or pulling the boat trailer to regattas. He loved to travel with Ruth overseas, beach getaways, or travelling across Canada on the train.
He was the beloved big brother to Edwin Devlin (Janice Devlin (Millotte)). Grandfather to Ava and Ryder Morrison; Lucy and Russell Blackburn; and Duke and Devlin Payne; Uncle to Jeremy, Brent, and Jessica Devlin; Jeff and Craig Wilson; and Sean and Brad Wilson. Brother-in-law to Linda Wilson (Mott), Susan Wilson (McDonald), and Carol Wilson (Shank).
For those wishing to donate in Dave’s memory, please consider the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 192 Captain A. Roy Brown or the Almonte Civitan Club.
Please join the family for a celebration of life at the Carleton Place Legion Branch 192 Captain A. Roy Brown Branch, 177 George Street Carleton Place on Sunday, February 16, 2025, 1:00-5:00 p.m.
