Dawn Lackey
July 12, 1937 ~ August 8, 2022
It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Dawn Lackey. She died peacefully the morning of August 8, 2022, at the Almonte General Hospital, with loved ones by her side. She is survived by the love of her life Albert Lackey, 3 of her 5 children, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Albert and Dawn were married for 59 years and had a marriage that most would only hope for. She will be greatly missed.
Dawn was an intelligent, industrious, strong, organized woman with a mind for business, an entrepreneurial spirit and a great sense of humor. She was a great cook and had a green thumb and a love of plants and flowers. She and Albert originally opened The Eating Place restaurant, Downtown Office Supplies and Lackey's Locksmith and Appliance Repair. She was a former head of the BIA in Carleton Place and held many important jobs throughout her life. Up until recent years, she would often be seen crocheting and knitting, making gifts for others. She was an excellent navigator as she and Albert went south for many winters and travelled around with their motorhome and trailer.
How sad we are now, but how blessed we were and how fortunate we are still to have all the stories and experiences and memories we shared. Let us find peace in the past to carry our hearts forward.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Almonte Hospital Foundation in Dawn’s memory.
