Dorothy Lloyd
(nee Morrison)
December 24, 1930-February 26, 2026
It is with great sadness we announce that Dorothy Lloyd (nee Morrison) passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, at the Country Haven in Almonte in her 96 th year with family by her side.
She was born on December 24, 1930 to her parents Harvey and Cora Morrison and raised on the family farm in Clayton, Ontario. Dorothy was predeceased by her siblings Alvaretta Ferro, Effie Munro, Cora (Maud) Marshall, Jenny Stearns, Viola Splane, and James Morrison.
Dorothy married James (Jim) Lloyd (predeceased) in 1950 and began their family in Carleton Place, Ontario before moving to the farm in Cedar Hill in 1967. She is survived by her 5 children; Carol (Steve) Osbaldeston, Janet (John) Salopek, Patricia (Colin) Neilson, Cora (Art, predeceased) Merchand and Rosser (Stacie) Lloyd. She will be dearly missed by her 10 grandchildren of whom she was extremely proud; Morgan Osbaldeston, Amanda Charron, Vanessa Salopek (Dave Monaghan), Jonathan (Tori) Merchand, Kelly Merchand, Hunter Neilson, Tanner (Alivia) Neilson, Robyn Lloyd (Brendan Cote), Austin Lloyd (Kaitlyn Curtis) and Avery Lloyd, as well as her 5 great-grandchildren Grace Merchand, Scarlett Merchand, Jackson Merchand, Jack Charron and Minnie Charron.
Dorothy loved her family, caring for farm animals and gardens, birds, her rabbits, drives down the backroads of Lanark County and a good competitive game of shuffleboard.
She remained engaged and active until just recently and loved the regular visits from family near and far. She enjoyed outings back to the family farm in Cedar Hill and to the garden centre owned by Jonathan and Tori. She will be fondly remembered as a strong woman who always believed that everything would be right in the world if you “got up, got dressed and faced the day with a positive attitude”. Rest in peace Mom/Granny!
A heartfelt thanks to all the Staff at the Country Haven in Almonte that were so supportive of Mom throughout the years she was with them.
