COWPLAND, Douglas Ivan Morgan
1976-2023
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Douglas Cowpland on Sunday, January 29, 2023, in Carleton Place, Ontario. Douglas (aka Dougie) will be remembered by his many friends and family as always having a kind heart, a big smile, and a generous nature. He spent most of his adult life in the local construction industry, building or renovating homes and businesses and establishing many friendships along the way. He loved camping and fishing with his family, and working in the kitchen where he turned out some pretty tasty meals.
Douglas leaves behind his much-loved wife, Eryn Baker, his cherished children, Kayla, Erika, Andrew, Emma and Vincent Cowpland and was a very special Grandpa to Rhys Cowpland-Reid. Douglas was the beloved son of Diane Wark and the late Nigel Cowpland; predeceased by his grandparents Reta and Ivan Wark; Edna Goffin and DouglasCowpland Sr (UK), and his infant grandson, Peace Cowpland-Reid. Douglas is survived by his brothers, his twin Jamie Cowpland and older brother Rick Gleason. He will be missed by his nieces and nephews, Shelby and Dylan Scharfe; Morgan, Zakary, Abigail, JJ and Spencer Cowpland and step-siblings Cody and Amanda Smithson. Fondly remembered by his extended family, step-mother, Christine Brodie, step-father, David Smithson, mother-in-law, Diana Cavers and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral arrangements by Alan R. Barker Funeral Home & Chapel. Private family service. Family and friends will be invited to gather for a Celebration of Life at a later date.
