Edward Nauf Obituary

Edward Sigurd Nauf

November 7, 1938 – May 12, 2026

It is with profound sadness that the family of Edward Sigurd Nauf announces his passing on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at the age of 87. Edward was predeceased by his parents, Sigurd Kollejorn Kristiansen Nauf and Matilda Eugenia Nauf (née Andersson), and by his grandson, Ethan Mitchell. He will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 42 years, Lois (née Clark); his daughters, Melissa Mitchell (Keith), Andrea Nauf, and Bonnie McMaster (Trin Pettingill); his granddaughter, Breanna Mitchell; his great-grandson, Jacob King; his chosen sister, Cathey Eldridge; and numerous other family members and dear friends.

Born and raised in Verdun, Quebec, Edward spent many of his adult years in Montreal before settling in Munster, Ontario. He felt most at home in the great outdoors, whether hunting, fishing, or enjoying the many sports he loved. Among those sports, hockey held a special place in his heart from an early age and remained a lifelong passion, one he later shared with others through his hockey school and as a longtime fan of the Montreal Canadiens. He was also very capable with his hands and could fix or build almost anything, skills he learned by working alongside his father on many projects, including the construction of the family’s first cottage in the Laurentians. Deeply devoted to his family, Edward took great pride in those he loved, and his strong Christian faith remained a source of strength and guidance throughout his life.

Friends may visit the family at the Alan R. Barker Funeral Home, 19 McArthur Avenue, Carleton Place, on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service in the chapel at 1:00 p.m. with a reception to follow at the funeral home.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute for the excellent and compassionate care shown to Edward over his many years as a patient.

For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to The Ottawa Mission, 35 Waller Street, Ottawa, ON K1N 7G4, or to Living Truth/Peoples Ministries Inc., 374 Sheppard Ave. East, Toronto, ON M2N 3B6.
