Elaine Ruth Stewart
Elaine Ruth Stewart was born in Almonte July 26, 1946 to Catherine and Victor Bennett of Carleton Place. Predeceased by brothers Don, Bob, and sister June Fournier; survived by brother Ken and her two children Shantell and Shawn James.
Elaine studied home economics at Kemptville Agricultural Collage where she met the love of her life Jim. After a brief time of living in Carleton Place, Jim and Elaine bought a small farm in Cedar Hill where they renovated an old farmhouse and kept a team of horses which pulled a buggy in the summer and a sleigh in the spring to collect sap in the sugar bush which they operated in partnership with Jim’s brother Dan. Elaine worked for many years as a teaching assistant working at Sir Guy Carleton with students with special needs.
Elaine was a strong, modest and compassionate and musical person who made friends easily and was loved by many. She was devoted mother and wife. Her compassion was noted in retirement settings where she was always reaching out to comfort anyone who was in distress.
Donations in Elaine’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated.
