Ellwood (Joe) Drader

Joe Drader, 91, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2026 peacefully in his sleep.

Joe was predeceased by his loving wife Jean (nee Laughren), his parents Tillie and Clint Drader, as well as his sister Marlene (the late Bill), and by his big brother Clint Jr. (survived by Beth). Joe married Jean Laughren on August 24, 1962 and after 64 years of happy marriage, Joe is survived by his loving children Jodie (Gerald), Jo-Anne (Steve), and John (Erin). Those who knew Joe will remember his warm heart, ability to talk and get to know everyone he met, his love of family and friends, and his sportsmanship. His greatest joy was being called “Papa” by his adoring grandchildren Jess (Will), Joe (Vanessa), Amanda (Tom), Adam (Taylor), Madison, Brodie, Carter and his great-grandchild Logan, as well as his equally loved step-grandchildren Cassie (Josh), Layla, and great-step-grandchild Alexis.

Friends and family who are wishing to honour Joe are invited to make a donation in his name to “Dickies Cause 4 Paws”. Joe lived, laughed, and loved from all the corners of his heart and he will be greatly missed by all (including his cats Annie & Lucy). Joe lives on through our laughter and memories, may he furever Rest in Peace.

All are invited to attend the Celebration of Life for Joe on Monday June 29, 2026 at the Carleton Place Arena (75 Neelin St, Carleton Place) from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. 

Arrangements are in the care of the Alan R. Barker Funeral Home, Carleton Place.
