It is with heavy hearts that we acknowledge the passing of our sweet four-year-old girl, Frances Freyja Dove McAdam. Born in her great, great grandmothers’ house in our hometown of Carleton Place, Frances came into this world surrounded by love on February 10th, 2022. Returning to the embrace of her ancestors and guided by the strength of the gods, Frances passed away on February 26th, 2026.
Frances was deeply loved by her parents, Jared McAdam and Chantry Edwards, and by her devoted siblings Harmony (16), Nevara (13), LunaAnne (9), and Dante (8), who were her constant companions and greatest heroes. She is cherished by her grandparents John and Susan Edwards, and Pat and Cali McAdam, as well as her loving aunts and uncles Bliss (Jaeme), Ryan (Jeff), Clayton (Laura), and Brent (Omar). She shared a special bond with her adoring cousins Gus, Juno, Hugh, and Maeve, who will carry her memory forward in laughter and play. It is an honour to have walked with her, and many more will hold her memory dear.
Frances was spirited and determined, never wanting to miss a moment of what her older siblings were doing. She especially enjoyed helping in the kitchen, painting alongside her brother and sisters, and dancing for the delight of her family. She adored caring for her dolls and looked up to her sisters, recently deciding that what she needed most in life was her very own make up, just like her older sister.
Frances also loved to read stories and was comforted by little tales of Peter Rabbit and Tom Thumb among others by Beatrix Potter. Frances had a powerful presence that touched the hearts of those fortunate to meet her and will be remembered forever. Beatrix Potter once said, “What heaven can be more real than to retain the spirit-world of childhood?” And there is a quiet comfort in knowing that Frances’ life, though far too brief, was filled entirely with wonder. Frances’ life reminds us that love is not measured in years, but in the depth of connection and joy one small soul can bring to the world. Her story continues through the adoration and tenderness she sparked in those who knew her. She will be missed beyond words and loved beyond time.
