Francis Curia Obituary

Francis Curia passed away suddenly in Ottawa, Canada on Sunday, March 3rd, 2024, at the age of 32 years. He was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on October 8th, 1991.

He is lovingly remembered by his parents, Eugenio and Graciela Curia, and his brother Eugenio Jr. Curia (Barbara Boreta). He is survived by his loving partner Alexa Boch.

Francis, after finishing his Bachelor in Business Administration at Lancaster University in the UK, held a Masters degree in Finance from Universidad Torcuato di Tella in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was proud of his successful career in finance, having most recently served as Manager on the Financial Planning and Analysis team covering US Utility Wind and Solar for TerraForm Power and Brookfield Renewable.

Francis was a very talented musician. He could play almost any string instrument, the piano, and was especially proficient on the recorder. He spoke many languages, including Spanish, English, German, French and Italian. He was a Rubik’s cube expert, and was well-versed in all things DC Comics, Zelda and Harry Potter. He was an avid sportsman and played as both a center and flanker for several rugby clubs, including the University of Lancaster’s First XV, Chicken Rugby Milano, Ottawa Irish and was internationally capped for the U19 Austrian National Rugby Team. Francis was a superb skier and found his happy place on the slopes.  He was a passionate soccer fan, and the happiest day of his life was when Argentina won the FIFA World Cup in 2022.

A loving son, brother, and partner, he was honest and forthright in everything he did and with those around him. He was loved by his friends from all around the world due to his generous and loving spirit. One of Francis’ favorite quotes was “Always be curious, not judgmental.” He always saw the best in everyone, and would never miss an opportunity to uplift those around him. Rest in peace, Fran.
