Gerald Skillen Obituary

Gerald Skillen
May 17, 1932 ~ Sept 7, 2022 (age 90)

Gerald 'Gerry' Skillen died quietly in his sleep on September 7, 2022, at the age of 90. Gerry was born in Belfast, Ireland, where he met his wife, Kathleen. Pursuing an exciting new life, they immigrated to Canada in 1967 with their son, Paul, and soon added another son, Sean, to the family. Eventually, they settled in the charming town of Carleton Place. Gerald's passion for baking led him to open Gerry's bakery and Erin's Tearoom, which they operated for many years. The family has inherited his gift and love for cooking and baking.
He was a role model for his values of hard work and honesty. For himself, he required little to be happy. Gerry will be missed but remembered by his two sons, Sean and Paul, grandchildren Kristin, Chelsea, Lena, and Emma, and his great-grandchild Talon, along with the newest great-grandchild Cecilia.
Per his wishes, we celebrated Gerald's life with a small gathering of family and friends.

For those who wish to donate in his memory, we recommend the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital.
