Gordon Nicholas Obituary

It is with profound sadness that the family of Gordon Arthur Nicholas announce his peaceful passing on Friday, September 20, 2024 at the age of 86 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 20 years, Lyn Nicholas; daughters: Karen Nicholas (Al), Sheila Pytel (John), Brenda Parker (Gary); grandchildren: Matthew, Jessica, Ashley, Tyler (Carly), Nelson, Ethan, and Cameron; great-grandchildren: Bentley, Hattie, Adalynn, and Dax; as well as his sister, Mary and numerous friends. Gord was predeceased by his first wife of 36 years, Ruth; and his daughter, Cathy. He was known as Gord but to many he was Gordie, Dad, or Pa. From 1955 to 1989, he proudly served his country in the Canadian Air Force and the Canadian Navy. He continued his love for helicopters while working at Boeing Canada, located in Arnprior from 1989 until he fully retired in 2003. Gord had a passion for woodworking and loved to teach his skills to many family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024 from 12-4pm, at the Brunton Community Hall, located at Beckwith Township Office, 2022 Beckwith Park Lane, Carleton Place, Ontario. A eulogy will be spoken at approximately 1:30pm with light snacks and refreshments available.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ottawa Heart Institute, 40 Ruskin St., Ottawa, Ontario.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Ottawa Heart Institute for their care and compassion to Gord over the years. A special thank you to Tara-Lynn and the staff at Bayshore Healthcare.
