Gérard (Gerry) Godard
(March 29, 1935-May 17, 2024)
Suddenly in his 89th year with his beloved wife of 65 years by his side, Gérard passed from this life to start his journey serving Christ in the next stage of his being. His pride and joy was his family, the result of 65 years of marriage with Odette Godard nee Ouimet. He will be greatly missed by his children Sylvie (Dale), Hélène (Gerald), Louise (Jim), and Gabriel (Sara). A spot will remain
empty in all the hearts of his grandchildren: Melanie (Jordan), Aaron (Suzie), Willow, Justin (Emma), Adam, Samantha (Samuel), Joseph, Ty and Will and his Great-Grandchildren Max, Evey and Eloise.
Gerry was parts manager extraordinaire beginning at 16 at Wert’s Garage (Crysler), moving to Dilawri - Just beyond the Fringe (Stittsville) in 1965, finishing his career with 25 years at Canadian Tire (CTCBC). In a time before computers his part number recall was phenomenal and in his later year’s raised more than one eyebrow when he ordered favourite treats and necessities sending out family members with SKU numbers. Gerry never met a project he couldn’t fix. If you couldn’t get parts anymore, he would simply make one. It might look a little – or a lot different – when he was done, but it did what it was supposed to do. As the anchor and patriarch of this large and boisterous family, he will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held at the Alan R. Barker Funeral Home, 19 McArthur Avenue, Carleton Place, Ontario on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 from Noon to 2 p.m. followed by a mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 28 Hawthorne Avenue Carleton Place ON K7C 3A9.
For those who wish, donations can be made to the Diabetes or Heart and Stroke Foundations.

(March 29, 1935-May 17, 2024)
