January 10, 1933 – August 7, 2022

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Harcourt William Malone on August 7, 2022, at the age of 89. Harcourt leaves behind his loving wife of 30 years, Kathleen Dryburgh Fex Malone. Predeceased by his previous spouses, Dorothy Kunstler Malone and Marion Merkley Malone. Left to mourn are his children Joanne, Marion and Walt, his step-children Linda, Stephen (Christine), Michael, Christina (Wesley), Gene (Debbie). Predeceased by his stepdaughter Katherine (Sam). Harcourt was a special and engaged grandfather to his brood of 21 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, treasuring every moment spent with each of them. A graduate of the University of Ottawa, Harcourt was a special education high school teacher who appreciated the different learning needs of each child. Harcourt enjoyed reading, dancing, gardening, and alpine skiing – he skied until his mid 80s. Sailing was also one of his passions. Harcourt loved the water and the wind, and he eagerly cultivated that passion in others. Always one to enjoy family and social gatherings, Harcourt will be remembered fondly by his extended family, large network of friends, neighbours and the congregation of St. James Anglican Church. Following cremation, a celebration of Harcourt’s life will be held at St. James Anglican Church in Carleton Place on Friday, August 12, 2022, 11:30am EDT. For those unable to attend in person, a livestream link will be posted to stjamescarletonplace.ca, in the Latest Announcements section. Inurnment of remains at St. James Cemetery. A reception in the Parish Hall will follow the service. Our sincere thanks to Dr. Gillian Buckley and the staff at the Carleton Place Hospital for their compassionate care.
