James “Hamish” Malcolm Macaulay
May 31 – 1957 – March 11, 2026
Born in Vancouver, British, Columbia
Hamish passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on March 11 at the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital, age 69. Hamish continued to have a full, rich life despite the increasing challenges of his Alzheimer’s complications.
Hamish is survived by his beloved wife Liz (nee Dickie), his sister Stephanie (Frank Volkmer), and his brothers in-law Brian (Shelly), Keith (Trudy), Neil, and Stephen. Hamish also leaves behind many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, close friends, as well as three great-nieces and a great-nephew. Hamish is predeceased by his parents John and Shirley (nee Taylor). He will also be missed by the many dogs, and their people we met over the years walking Islay.
The family would like to thank Dr. McMurray and staff at the Royal Ottawa Hospital and the doctors and staff at the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital for the kindness and care given to Hamish over many difficult months.
As per Hamish’s wishes, there will not be a service. Hamish’s ashes will be lovingly scattered at a later time.
Donations in Hamish’s memory may be made to The Royal Ottawa Hospital at https://www.theroyal.ca/ or the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital Foundation at www.cpdmhfoundation.ca
