James (Jim) Jaffey

It is with deep sadness to announce the passing of James David Jaffey. Jim was a loving and kind soul who touched the lives of everyone who knew him. Jim was born in Brockville, Ontario but lived in many places throughout his childhood, as his father, Dr. Bertram David Jaffey was a physician with the Canadian Armed Forces. Jim was raised in many provinces and even San Antonio, Texas. His mother Frances Irene Jaffey (nee Carley) raised Jim and his 2 older siblings with her family in Brockville while Dr. David served in a MASH unit during the Korean War. Jim studied mathematics and statistics at Carleton University in Ottawa and obtained 3 Masters degrees. He first worked as an assistant for Bill Kempling, a federal member of Parliament, then continued his professional life at Bell Canada, then as a clinical trial statistician at the Ottawa Civic Hospital. Jim enjoyed cycling and discussing politics, but most of all having a good laugh.

He was so kind to his family and friends, and especially to animals. His favourite pet dog was Mr. B, a gentle Mastiff, Akeda, German Shepard mix. He loved taking his most recent dogs, chihuahuas Daisy and Petey for long walks in nature.

Jim will be missed by his friend and spouse, Connie Carlotti; his beloved Lisa and Paul, his siblings, John, Elizabeth, Eleanor and Joseph, his nine nieces and nephews and his 11 great nieces and nephews.

May God welcome Jim into his eternal Kingdom. May we meet him again in our eternal reward.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00pm on Wednesday. March 22, 2023 at St. Monica’s Parish, 2080 Merivale Rd., Nepean, ON,  K2C 3H1
