Janet Mary Cooney (nee Milosek)
15 May, 1943 – 16 February 2024
Our hearts are broken to announce the unexpected sudden passing of Janet Mary Cooney (nee Milosek), at home, in the early morning of Friday 16th February, 2024. Loving wife, of 58 years, to Paul Cooney, Almonte, who was born and raised in Ottawa. Cherished Mom to Linda (Kevin MacWilliams) of Petawawa and Kevin (Jennifer, nee Clement) of Almonte. Devoted Nan to 5 beautiful grandchildren, Kelsey Cooney (Matt Tanzola), Harrison Cooney, Kade MacWilliams, Samantha Cooney, and Danika MacWilliams. Born 15th May 1943, in Renfrew, ON to Joseph Walter Milosek of Poland and Lucy Nadobny of Renfrew. Sister to Genevieve (predeceased Terry Gravelle) of Pembroke, predeceased brother Alexander (Norma) of Nepean, David (Ellen) of Douglas, and Dennis (Patricia) of Nepean. Sister-in-law to David (Elaine) Cooney of Nepean. Cousin of Aleksander (Kyrstyna) Milosek of Ottawa. Adoring Aunt to many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Missed by many cousins and friends.
Janet was hard working, and trained at the Lorraine School of Nursing, Pembroke, ON, graduating as a RN in 1964 of a class of 14 nursing sisters. On the 18th September, 1965 she married her soulmate Paul, in Renfrew. They have resided in Almonte ever since. Jan enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, and camping. She was in her glory when she could do all three together. She loved and adored time spent with her grandchildren, and was always eager to share in any of their celebrations and accomplishments.
There will be a funeral mass on Thursday 22nd February, 2024 at 1 pm at Holy Name of Mary Church, 134 Bridge St., Almonte, ON. A “Celebration of Life” will take place at the Civitan Hall, 500 Almonte St., Almonte, ON, following the funeral mass, 2 to 4 pm. Everyone welcome.
Donations can be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation or CHEO in Jan’s honour.
Family extends its profound gratitude to Dr. Harvey, Lanark County Paramedics, OPP Constable Anna Forsythe, neighbours, and Civitans.
With God all things are possible. Mark 10:27
