Jean Hirst (nee Kindt)
1940 - 2026
Jean Hirst (nee Kindt) was born on November 7, 1940, in Winchester, Virginia to Dr. Lawrence Kindt and Edith Millie.
She came to Canada in her early teens and settled in High River, Alberta. Once she graduated from high school, she attended the University of Alberta and became a nurse. Ever full of adventure, she took her first nursing job in Dawson City, Yukon Territory as a public health nurse. There she met Frank Hirst and they soon married. Her daughter Laurie Mousseau (Scott Mousseau) and son Chris Hirst (Carrie) filled out her family. Grandchildren Ryan, Kate and Josh were a source of much joy.
Jean and Frank moved to Ontario and bought a 100-acre piece of land which they became their lifelong project. Jean loved to design buildings and gardens and helped to build the farm into the place it is today.
She was an exceptionally talented astrologer and was part of a lively Ottawa group. Jean will always be remembered for her gentle smile, generous laughter, and joy in life.
A visitation will be held at Barker Funeral Home, 19 McArthur Avenue, Carleton Place, Ontario, on Saturday, July 4, 2026 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8pm.
