Julia Colleen Thistle Zappa, age 58, passed away suddenly due to illness at the Queensway Carleton hospital on April 16th. Her unexpected passing leaves a profound and enduring sorrow in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Julie was the beloved wife of John Zappa, with whom she shared 39 years of marriage, building a life rooted in love, resilience, and family devotion. She was a cherished daughter of Colleen Thistle and the late Sam Thistle, and a proud, devoted mother whose family was the center of her world.
She is survived by her son, John Simon Zappa (Jenna Zappa) and their children, Harper and Beckett and her daughter, Elizabeth Henderson (Matt Henderson) and their children, Holly and Benjamin.
Julia is further survived by her siblings—her sister Jane, and her brothers Joe and Sam—with whom she shared a lifelong bond of love. She will be missed by her aunts and uncles, their spouses and children - Jane Logan (Barry) and their children Whitney and Brad, Joe Thistle (Willemina) and their children (late Jasmine) Josie and Joel as well as Sam Thistle (Laurie) and their children Lindsay and Marie-Anne.
Julia lived a life born of fire and ended the same. Though her passing came at a young age and did not allow for a long life, the life she lived was full of passion. She faced the world with intensity, strength, and heart, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her spirit was fierce, her love unwavering, and her legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren, and all whose lives she touched.
Julia Collen Thistle Zappa will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
