Kevin Bernard Stone
Kevin Bernard Stone, aged 65, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, friendship, and curiosity. He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Anita (Villeneuve) Stone and Bernard Stone.
Kevin will be deeply missed by his dear siblings: Leonard Stone (Jan Burwell), Judy-Anne Brush (William), Maureen Martin, and Suzanne Denney (Robert). A cherished uncle, Kevin will be missed by his nieces and nephews: Derek Brush, Allan Brush, Lisa Laughton (Alex), Janice Martin, Chelsea Reilly (Jimmy), Aysha Denney-Souter (Robert), Nathan Stone, and Trevor Stone. He will also be remembered fondly by “the guys,” a close-knit group of friends whose lives he touched deeply.
A man of many talents and passions, Kevin worked for Environment Canada, where he applied his love for nature and the environment. His connection to the outdoors extended beyond his work, as he was an avid explorer of nature and a lover of animals. His guitar-playing brought happiness to him and those around him, and his wide-ranging interests—spanning environmental science, technology, and more—made him a source of knowledge and inspiration to those who knew him.
Kevin’s formative years spent in East Africa shaped his worldview, fostering a deep connection to the region. He was a graduate of Trent University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology, a degree that reflected his lifelong dedication to understanding and protecting the natural world.
Kevin faced many challenges in life, but always persevered with an optimistic outlook. His warmth, intelligence, and sense of adventure will be missed by all who knew him. His family and friends take comfort in the many memories of his caring, loyalty, and his involvement in their lives.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ottawa Humane Society would be appreciated.
There will be an informal, drop-in reception in honour of Kevin’s life on Saturday October 19th between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm at Barker Funeral Home, 19 McArthur Avenue, Carleton Place, Ontario.
