SCHMIDT, Laurette Noel
June 19, 1921 – December 3, 2024

It is with sadness and love that we share the loss of our beloved Laurette. She passed at the incredible age of 103 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by family, on the evening of Tuesday, December 3, 2024. Her memory will be cherished by her husband of 61 years, Horst; two children: Lorraine (Sailesh) Thaker and Pierre (Colette) Schmidt; five grandchildren: Zakarie Schmidt, Joel (Shannon Hicks) Schmidt, Naren (Darcy) Thaker, Emilie (Cameron Gow) Schmidt and Maleeka Thaker; and one great-grandchild: Marigold Thaker. Always thoughtful, Laurette  was passionate about her family and had a real zest for life. All who met her were instantly drawn into her light. Her laugh was infectious, unique and easily recognizable. She was an urbanite at heart, always chic and ahead of her time. Family and friends will forever see her knitting, baking German Christmas cookies and preparing for the many family gatherings and celebrations. Laurette loved to travel with her children and Horst. She had a good life. The family is most grateful to all those who provided such compassionate care to
Laurette. Laurette was larger than life and we miss her greatly.

The visitation to celebrate Laurette’s life will take place on Saturday, December 14, from 1:00 – 3:00 pm at Barker Funeral Home, 19 McArthur Avenue, Carleton Place, Ontario. A private inurnment will take place at a later date.
