Lawrence Gerard McNabb
Feb.1, 1928 – May 22, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Larry McNabb, at the age of 97, on May 22, 2025, at Almonte Country Haven Nursing Home. Born in Reserve Mines, Nova Scotia, on Feb.1, 1928, Larry lived a remarkable life full of love, dedication, and an unyielding passion for the things that mattered most to him.
A proud veteran of the Canadian Air Force, Larry served his country for 25 years. After his time in the military, he continued his career with Douglas Laboratories (later known as Dynacare), where he dedicated 27 years of service.
Outside of his professional life, Larry had a deep love for sports, particularly hockey and golf. He was an avid golfer and played hockey for several teams, remaining active on the ice well into his 90s. His passion for the game, the camaraderie of teammates, and his competitive spirit were central to his life, and he cherished every moment on the rink and the course.
Larry was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his devoted wife, Elizabeth (Berti) McNabb, his children Rodger, Chris, Cindy, Patrick, and Rebecca, as well as his grandchildren Yaron, Omri, Rodger Jr., Glen, Joe, Gavin, Sean, Darren, Ella, and Lee, and his great-grandchildren Trip, Tilly, Diana, Midas, Caroleena, Delilah and Brodie. Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews
He is also survived by his sisters, Rena and Anna. He was predeceased by his first wife, Rita, his son, Jerry, and siblings Gordon, Ray, Eileen, Marge, Jean, and Priscilla.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, with details to be announced. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Almonte Country Haven Nursing Home for their exceptional care and support during Larry’s final years.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Larry's memory. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his kindness, generosity, and the many lives he touched throughout his 97 years.
