It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of beloved sister and aunt Leanne Derochier. Leanne passed away unexpectedly in her home on the morning of October 30th 2025 at the age of 71.

Predeceased by her parents Clifford and Margaret Derochier, sister Janice Moreau, and brother-in-law David Pitt. She is survived by her sister Carey Derochier, brother-in-law Brian Moreau, and nephew Nathan Pitt.

A lifelong civil servant, Leanne is fondly remembered for her passion for genealogy, books, and gardening. Her intelligence and sharp memory were demonstrated by the knowledge she possessed in these pursuits—her ancestry works, collection of books, and lively garden endure as testaments to her dedication. In addition, her love of wildlife stands out, as she is recalled as saying the call of the Loon was the most beautiful sound she had ever heard.

She was a cherished family member and friend, often serving as a pillar to lean on in times of need. Gone too soon, she will be missed, but an excerpt from a poem she had written reminds us that we should celebrate the mark she made:

"Weep not for me at this time Keep good memories and be glad; shed no tears, be not sad I will leave you soon, but be not afraid; as I had the best gift ever made For I have walked upon this earth."

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 10th from 3-7 PM at Alan R. Barker Funeral Home in Carleton Place.
