Lila May Wade
Lila passed away quietly at home in the early hours of February 26, 2026. Predeceased by her loving husband of 57 years, Gordon Vance Wade and son Robert who died in infancy. Survived by Linda, Stuart and Laurie, 9 grandkids, 11 great-grandkids and several nieces and nephews.
Lila had a wonderful life, married at 17, fully embraced the military lifestyle, making lifelong friends wherever she went. She traveled the globe with Gordon; China, Australia, the Caribbean, Africa, most of Europe, S. America, Mexico and so on.
Lila had the ability to make people feel welcome and comfortable with her quiet, grounded personality.
A decades long member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Legion Branch #192, she loved the seniors’ sports, card tournaments, bingo, jigsaw puzzles and friends. A descendant of Empire Loyalist, Hendrick Jackson, which she quietly respected.
To say that she will be missed is an understatement. Her love of family held no bounds, and she leaves us with countless happy memories and for that we are all eternally grateful for being a part of her world.
Family and friends may visit the Barker Funeral Home, 19 McArthur Avenue, Carleton Place, Ontario, on Monday, March 2, 2026, from 9a.m. until time of service in the chapel at 11a.m.
