Peacefully at Almonte Country Haven with family by her side on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the age of 96 years.
Predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Mack James. Dearly loved mother of Glenn, Sheila (Bryan) and Steven (Aline). Fondly remembered by her grandchildren Samantha (Dalton) and Brody, and great grandchildren Bryce and Jack Cole. Fondly remembered by sisters-in-law Doreen McNeely and Irene Baldock. Predeceased by brother Doug and parents Arthur and Estelle McNeely. Also survived by nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered raising Hereford cattle for 75 years with her husband Mack. Lois is on the Honour Roll of the Canadian Hereford Association. She is inducted into the Lanark Agricultural Hall of Fame. She is an Honourary Life Member of the Rocky Ridge Women’s Institute. She was a 4H homemaking club leader for many years. She was an agricultural historian who contributed to writing a 275 page book. She was a committee member of the Ottawa Winter Fair and Ottawa Farm Show for 30 years. She was a teacher at Carleton Place High School for 25 years. Her heart was devoted to God and she was committed to her church, St James Anglican Church.
Friends may call at the Alan R. Barker Funeral Home, 19 McArthur Avenue, Carleton Place on Thursday, December 11 from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm. Funeral Service will be held at St James Anglican Church on Friday December 12 at 11 am. Interment St. James Parish Cemetery.
