Haskins
Lynn Maureen (Née Hooper)
Jan 10, 1940 – Dec 25, 2025
Lynn Maureen Haskins died peacefully on Christmas morning, 2025, at her residence in Carleton Place, Ontario. She is predeceased by her husband, Ronald James Haskins, and survived by her four children, John, Heather, Catherine (Arthur Baylis), and Carolyn (Nic Lewis), and six grandchildren, Samantha, Charlotte, Emily, Patrick, Tim, and Tanner.
Lynn was born in Toronto, the only child of Nelson (deceased 1939) and Leila Gertrude Hooper. She met her husband Ron at a young people’s group at Calvary Baptist Church and was married there in December, 1958. She studied teaching at the University of Toronto and taught at a rural one-room schoolhouse near Toronto before starting her family of four children in 1960.
She spent many years in Kapuskasing, Ontario, and became active in aquatics, teaching many courses to young swim instructors, lifeguards, and synchronized swimming instructors. She loved animals and provided a home to many strays over the years. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, music, sewing and weaving.
Lynn and Ron moved to Almonte, Ontario, in 1996 and entered a new chapter of life as grandparents.
Like Ron, the church was a big part of her life. She taught Sunday school in Kapuskasing and enjoyed singing in the church choir.
Funeral service will be held in the Chapel of the Alan R. Barker Funeral Home, 19 McArthur Avenue, Carleton Place, Ontario on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 1:00 pm. Followed by a reception.
