Marianne W. Gibbs (née Barr) passed peacefully on November 15, 2025, leaving a light that will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her—a legacy of love, devotion, and quiet strength. She is now reunited with Brian, her beloved husband of 64 years, who predeceased her four years ago. Marianne’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her son, Geoff (Janice); her daughter, Christy (Jacques); her grandchildren, Janna, Jeremy, Michelle, and Jocelyn; and her great-grandchildren, Hailey and Riley, who affectionately knew her as G’ma. Each brought her immense pride and happiness.
She lived a full and beautiful life, finding joy in travel, reading by the lake, watching sports, playing board games, and, of course, bingo. Her happiest moments were simply spent with family and friends—anywhere warm and sunny, with a glass in hand and her feet in the sand. Marianne’s warm heart, calm presence, resilience, and wonderful sense of humour made her a source of comfort and encouragement to all who knew her.
The family would like to thank the Staff at Carleton Place Hospital and especially the Team and friends at Waterside Retirement Community whose care and support brought joy and comfort these past few years.
Though deeply missed, Marianne leaves a lifetime of cherished memories and the enduring impact of her kind soul. Her family and friends will forever remember her with love and gratitude. May she rest in peace.
“Whenever you want to see me, always look at the sunset; I will be there.” — Grace Ogot
The family will be holding a private celebration of life at a later date.
