Marvin Ross MacPherson
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marvin Ross MacPherson, known affectionately as Ross, on July 24th, 2024, in Eswatini, Africa. Born on August 26th, 1957.
Ross was the cherished son of the late Marvin and Phyllis MacPherson. Ross grew up in Carleton Place and graduated from Almonte District High School in 1975. He furthered his education at Centennial Technical College. Then went on to graduate from Queens University with his teaching degree in 1986. Ross initially pursued a career in teaching in secondary education but soon returned to Carleton Place to assist with and eventually take over the family business, MacPherson's Auto Centre. His love for teaching never left as he continued to teach at the college level for years to come.
On May 31st, 1986, Ross married Laurie Watson, with whom he shared a beautiful and loving life. Together, they raised three wonderful children: Spencer, Todd, and Caleb. Ross's legacy is carried on by his devoted wife Laurie, his three sons, their wives, and his ten beloved grandchildren. Spencer and his wife Becky, along with their son Grayson; Todd and his wife Rosemary, along with their six children, Shemar, Kara, Timothy, Phillip, Grace, Heidi and Carmen; and Caleb and his wife Megan, along with their daughters Roslyn and Azalea.
Ross was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a supportive grandfather. His insatiable desire to learn and his passion for teaching defined much of his life.Ross had a deep love for all things automotive, and he spent the last five years of his life imparting his knowledge and skills to young men and women in Eswatini, Africa. Of all Ross’ loves and interests in his life the one that trumped them all was his love for the Lord. This love was what compelled him to live the selfless life he lived; evidenced to everyone he came in contact with.
Ross's commitment to education and his contributions to the community, both in Carleton Place and abroad, will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him. His warmth, generosity, and unwavering support will be deeply missed.
Family and friends may visit at the Barker Funeral Home, 19 McArthur Avenue, Carleton Place on Friday, August 30, 2024 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. A service will be held at Woodvale Pentecostal Church, 205 Greenbank Rd, Ottawa on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 1 p.m.
