Mary Arlene MacPherson Obituary

Mary Arlene MacPherson

Mary Arlene MacPherson (born January 18, 1945; Montreal) passed away peacefully on February 13, 2024 at the Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Arlene was the youngest child of the late Emmett Melvin and Margaret (Laverty). Arlene’s legacy lives on through her devoted husband Brian, her son Rob (Gayle), her daughter Lesley (Paul VandenDam), and her cherished granddaughters Brianna and Kealeigh. She is survived by her sister Roberta Martinek (late Jan) and her brothers John Melvin (Susan) and Don Melvin (Lillian).  Arlene’s granddaughters and fur-baby Lexi held such a special place in her heart.

Arlene was retired from RBC and was steadfast in her devotion to family, friends, and faith. She loved to travel with her husband, play cards with friends, and cook and entertain for her family. She was a great hostess who gave so much of herself to others. Arlene was loved deeply by so many people whose lives she touched throughout her life, and she will be dearly missed.

Please join us in celebrating the life of Arlene. Visitation will be Sunday, February 18 at Alan R. Barker Funeral Home (19 McArthur Ave, Carleton Place) from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. The funeral service will take place on Monday, February 19 at St. Mary’s Church (28 Hawthorne Ave, Carleton Place) at 1pm. Memorial donations may be made to the Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital Foundation.

We are incredibly grateful for the amazing doctors and nurses who cared for Arlene.

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want” (Psalm 23:1)
