Mary Ellen Code (Halpenny)

July 31, 1942 – June 28, 2024

Mary Ellen peacefully passed away in her home with her children and pets by her side. She was the loving mother of Lisa Anderson (Robert) and Derek (Lisa), and the cherished grandmother of Spencer (Sarah), Julia, and Hunter. Mary Ellen is predeceased by her beloved husband Fred, her brother Bill Halpenny (Helen), and her parents, Edwin and Laura (nee Hawkins).
Born in Almonte, Mary Ellen was a long-time resident of Scotch Corners. She devoted herself to the family farm and she also had a fulfilling career as a dedicated nurse, caring for patients for over forty years at the Almonte General Hospital. Mary Ellen always looked forward to getting together with her circle of treasured friends to celebrate special occasions. She also enjoyed chats and visits with Reta and Lloyd, Eleanor, Joan, Vera, Ken, Helen, Elizabeth and Amy. Mary Ellen touched the hearts of her many friends and neighbours, and she will be fondly remembered as Mother Code by those who gathered around her kitchen table. Heartfelt thanks to Janice and Mary Ellen’s care team for their invaluable support, which helped Mary Ellen to remain in her home.
