Micheline Briggs

Micheline Briggs (née King) of Carp, Ontario (originally of Grand Falls, NB) passed away at home surrounded by her family on October 29th following a long cancer journey.

Micheline is survived by her husband Mark, children Francis (Sarah), Laura (Benjamin), Tanya and Paul. She cherished her role as Grand-Mimi to grandson Denny.

While born a proud Acadian and French Canadian, Micheline set out for Ottawa where she met her husband Mark and started her career as a primary school teacher. She will be remembered by her colleagues and hundreds of her “p’tits zonzons” as a dedicated, dynamic and loving soul who was born to teach Kindergarten – she was forever five years old at heart. Along the way Micheline returned to her love of the piano; her natural musical abilities brought joy to her home and classroom alike. Her home was always a welcoming place with guests quickly becoming family. Those who knew her likely first made acquaintance through hearing her infectious laughter and feeling the vibrancy of her joyous spirit. Micheline taught us to be kind, selfless and unstintingly generous of heart, but above all, she taught us to find the joy in each day and celebrate it (often with a glass of red wine!).

Funeral Mass to be celebrated at St. Michael’s Corkery (1560 Corkery Road, Carp, ON) on Friday November 8th at 1:00pm, followed by interment in the adjacent cemetery. Following church services, friends are invited to join her family in a celebration of Micheline’s life from 3:00 – 5:00pm at The Barley Mow pub at 79 Little Bridge Street in Almonte, ON where light refreshments will be served and happy memories will be shared.

In lieu of flowers Micheline would hope that donations be made to the charities closest to her heart; The Ottawa Hospital Foundation (Cancer Research), Shepherds of Good Hope, Ottawa Food Bank, Multiple Sclerosis Scientific Research Foundation.
