Monique M. Renaud (nee Van Ongevalle), passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family in Ottawa at the age of 85 on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, after a prolonged battle with pulmonary fibrosis.

Monique was born in Brussels, Belgium. She was the daughter of the late Justin Van Ongevalle and Simone Vreven. Proud and loving mother of Veronique Cooper (Scott) and Daniel Renaud (Sarah). Deeply missed by her grandchildren Victoria and Luc Cooper (Sydney). Predeceased by her twin sister Maryse and her brother Luc. Proudly remembered by her brother-in-law Marcel Custeau (Lucie) and sister-in-law Joan Van Ongevalle, as well as her nieces and nephews Nathalie Custeau (Francois), Mylene Custeau (Grant), Alan Van Ongevalle (Lorie), Chantal Van Ongevalle (Wil) and grand nieces and nephews.

She greatly appreciated her palliative care team members that sought to her needs to make it possible for her to pass away in the comfort of her home. She was a retired registered nurse who loved to shop for second hand treasures, was very creative and a had a flair for decorating. Throughout the years she enjoyed travelling to visit her extended family and to see nature sites.

She always put her family's needs above her own and centered her life around those she loved. She maintained many great friendships up to the time of her death. She leaves behind a legacy of loyalty, honesty, integrity and dedication to the Lord.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Parish at 28 Hawthorne Avenue, Carleton Place, Ontario, on Monday, June 9, 2025 at 11 am, followed by Reception in Church Hall. Visitation at Church from 10 to 11am.
