Patrick Howard Obituary

Patrick Bernard Howard

May 11, 1953 - December 30, 2022

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the sudden passing of Patrick B. Howard, of Mississippi Mills, on December 30th, 2022, at the age of 69. While a failing heart took him away from this world, his loving heart left a beacon of light for all those who knew him. Patrick was born to Francis and Denise Howard on May 11th, 1953, in Lausanne, Switzerland as the eldest of three siblings and is survived by his sister, Karine (Nick) Davies and brother Eric (Jane) Howard. Patrick will be lovingly remembered by his “blonde” (partner) of 16 years, Hélène Bourgouin; his children, Jeremy (Marie-Eve), Alexandra (Mathew), Christopher (Catherine), and Hélène’s children, Catherine (Joris) and Emilie; his grandchildren: Evelyne, Margot, Sophie, Rheya, Michaël and Éveric. Patrick will also be dearly missed by his community, friends, neighbours, and colleagues, many of whom he considered a part of his extended family.

Patrick’s life was one filled with many accomplishments and adventures. He had an adventurous and social spirit that led him to travel in his youth. He travelled and worked across Europe and North America creating lifelong friendships along the way. Ultimately choosing Canada as his home, he fell in love, got married and started a family. He turned a farm into a home, fulfilling a lifelong passion.

Patrick fulfilled 30 years of dedicated service at the House of Commons with honesty and integrity. His greatest accomplishment of all was the challenge of raising his three children and the pride it brought him seeing them grow into the individuals they have become. Later in life, Patrick found his soulmate, Hélène, who he loves as deeply as she loves him. Over the last 9 years, he was blessed with the love and adoration of his grandchildren who lovingly knew him as “Papi”. Patrick was a man that deeply loved his family, friends and all those that came into his life.

In keeping with Patrick’s social nature, the family invites everyone whose life has been enriched by knowing him to join them in celebrating his life on February 4, 2023. A visitation will be held from 10:00am to 12:00 noon at the Alan R. Barker Funeral Home, 19 McArthur Avenue, Carleton Place. A funeral service will follow in the chapel at 12 noon then everyone is invited to celebrate and share memories of Patrick at the Carleton Place Curling club, 120 Patterson Crescent, Carleton Place.

Donations in Patrick`s memory may be made to either Dickies Cause 4 Paws - kitten rescue (dickiescause4paws@outlook.com) or the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital Foundation.
