Baker, James Paul
It is with a grieving heart that we share the news of the passing of Paul on January 18, 2023, just 18 days before his 80th birthday. He is predeceased by his father, John Baker, mother, Mary (nee Burke), brother Ted and best friend and beloved wife, Anne (nee Nugent). He was the devoted father to Jamie, Beth Baker (Jason Stitt) and an amazing grandfather for his cherished granddaughters, Reilly, Bridget, Maddison and Jayden. He is survived by his brother John (Sue) and many relatives on the Nugent side of the family including Gail (Bryan), Mary (Bob) and Art (Shirley). He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews.
Paul was a kind and loyal man; he was always there to lend a helping hand. He cherished family time the most and was always up for a good time with friends. Paul was easygoing and loved the simple things in life. He loved hockey, especially his Ottawa Senators, and spending time at the lake. He will be remembered most for being a character who loved to laugh and make others smile and laugh with his tremendous sense of humour and wit. He has left us with memories that will last forever.
To celebrate Paul’s life, a visitation will be held from 6pm to 8pm on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at the Alan R. Barker Funeral Home, 19 McArthur Ave, Carleton Place. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 25 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at Barker Funeral Home, with a reception to follow downstairs.
In memoriam donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
