Paul Caldwell Tate
March 23, 1948 – May 16, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Tate, who passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026, at the Queensway Carleton Hospital surrounded by his loved ones.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Susan; daughters Annie (Luke) and Emily, son Ryan (Kayla). He was the proud Grandpa of Paul, Kate, Stella, Vivienne, Eleanor, Calvin and Hailey. He was the cherished brother of Penny and Brian (Bonnie) and was predeceased by his sister Patsy and parents Charles and Evelyn.
He loved sports and was an avid golfer well into his retirement, spending lots of time on the course with his good friend Sandy. His mind was a steel-trap, he never seemed to forget anything he learned. He would constantly surprise his family with random facts about the world.
Family was always the most important thing in his life. He was a loving and dedicated father and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He had many health struggles throughout his life but always approached them with a smile and a joke, never a complaint, never desiring pity; it was truly inspirational. He knew God had a place waiting for him someday so never showed any fear of the unknown.
Paul will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Friends are invited to support the family at Barker Funeral Home, 19 McArthur Avenue, Carleton Place (613) 257-3113, on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral service in the chapel at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home
