Peter Patenaude Obituary

Peter Joseph Koubowa Patenaude
1941 ~ 2025

On the morning of Sunday January 5th, our father Peter passed away after a prolonged battle with COPD. He was fortunate enough to die in his sleep with his loving wife Dianne by his side. We mourn, yet are grateful that his suffering is over. Dad had made peace with his death by saying to us “What more could I ask for than to see my death coming and have the opportunity to say goodbye to the ones I love.” If you were fortunate enough to meet him, you will no doubt remember his corny jokes and his many, many stories. Former Lion’s Club Lion Tamer and formerly Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus. He will be missed by everyone at the Legion, where he enjoyed playing cards and had developed a late-in-life love for darts. His life’s journey started during a challenging time in Europe, yet despite that, it ended surrounded by a loving family that will never forget his charming smile and brilliant blue eyes. He will be dearly missed by his wife Dianne (Devereaux) of over 58 years. Son Dennis with his wife Sandra (Scott) and granddaughter Noelle. Daughter Anne
Patenaude and her partner Joel Jordan, with grandsons Sean Gilbert; Shea Gilbert with wife Tannis (Higginson) and great-grandsons, Jaxson and Grayson; Seamus Gilbert with fiancée Rebbecca Parker and great - grandchildren Kane, Chloe, Charlotte, predeceased by Willow. Adoptive parents Ivan and Rita Patenaude (both predeceased); his sisters Irene (predeceased), Lise, Nicole (Pierre), Estelle (Gilles), Georgette, brother Reynald. Predeceased by Frank and Adrienne Devereaux, survived by brothers-in-law Frank (Nicole), Daniel (Sandra), Michael, John (Benoit), Joseph (Madeleine).

Funeral Mass will be held in Carleton Place at St. Mary’s 28 Hawthorne Avenue at 11 am, Saturday February 15th. Friends may begin gathering at 10 am. Reception will follow at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 192 located at 177 George Street also in Carleton Place.

Donations in his memory can be made to the Canadian Lung Association.
