It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Peter Archibald Welch on March 5, 2025 at Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital at the age of 81.

Born in Plymouth, England to Archibald Frederick Welch and Lilian Maude Tremlett, Peter was well known in the Carleton Place community for his avid love for soccer, and devotion to his favourite team, Manchester United. For many years, Peter contributed to the Carleton Place Soccer Club as a head coach, and as an advocate for improving the quality and certification level of coaches. He shared his passion for the sport with countless families. His influence reached far beyond the soccer field, instilling others with a sense of dedication, hard work, perseverance, and teamwork.

Peter will be lovingly remembered by his wife Margaret (nee Schilling) and his children Julie (Sean), Natalie, and Steve (Jenny). Cherished grandfather to Liam, Lochlann, Ailish, Henrik, and Anika. Beloved brother to Nick. Peter will be greatly missed by the many friends and neighbours whose lives and hearts he touched over the years. Peter showed his love in many ways, but especially through trying and sharing new recipes, and delivering farm fresh eggs to his friends and family.

A private celebration of life will be held by his family at a later date.

The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the compassionate and supportive staff at Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital. In lieu of flowers, the family requests for donations to be directed to the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital Foundation, or to the Canadian Cancer Society in Peter’s honour.

Peter’s legacy will live on through the many lives he touched, both on and off the soccer field. He will be forever loved, remembered, and missed.
