Rick passed peacefully at home with his loving wife and best friend, Mary Ellen and special friend and cousin Deb by his side on January 31, 2024 at the age of 73. Rick was predeceased by his father Douglas Johnston, his mother Phyllis (Pascoe), father- in-law William Earl Doig, mother- in -law, Eve Bernice Doig (Jackson) and brother in law William George Doig. He is survived by his wife of 37 years Mary Ellen Doig, his daughter Ginette Tetrault (Larry) his sister Penny Nield (Robert), brother Derek (Jackie) and sister- in- law Brenda Doig. He also leaves 4 cherished grandchildren: Janelle, Stefan, Joel, Rosalie and 4 great grandchildren: Abby, Chloe, Ben and Maddox. He will be missed by his nephews and nieces and many good friends.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held this summer at his favourite place, the lake. Thank you to our incredible neighbors on Birch Point Lane for all their love and support.
Special thanks to Dr. Courchene, Dr. Alimari, Dr. Harty, Home and Community Care-Champlain, the Regional Palliative Care Team and all the staff at Bayshore Nursing Agency. The family is so appreciative of all the compassion and loving care given to Rick.
